Each and every one of us have a gift, but gifts are tricky little things.
Some people effortlessly tap into their gift, while others have difficulty even identifying theirs. Some people use their gift for so much good, while others use it as a weapon. This particular exercise was incredibly difficult for me. It came to me during a time of immense change and fear, but when I really needed it. I’m here to tell you (from both passion and experience) that when you identify your gift…your superpower…and you wholeheartedly own it…YOU will change the world.
As a society, we choose our career paths all wrong. Ass-backwards really. From a young age, people ask us, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” That is such a damaging question in my opinion. What if instead of asking what do you want to “do,” we focused on that individual’s gift and cultivated a life around that? Tapping into your personal gifting brings purpose. Listen, I’m not saying that the little girl who was asked what she wanted to be one day, won’t become a Doctor. I’m saying she will decide to become a Doctor specializing in Infectious Diseases because it is the career path most aligned with her true gift. When that little girl comes from a place of authenticity rather than expectations, she will change the world.
Your gift isn’t something you DO, it’s who you ARE. Your gift is innate and it is limitless. So how do you find your gift? Let’s start here with some soul searching.

It’s time to weave this all together and uncover your true gift. There’s no right or wrong way to put the pieces together. For me, I borrowed my daughter’s markers and gave every damn adjective a color. Purple = Empathetic. Blue = Inspirational. You get the picture. Once every descriptive word was assigned a color, I tallied up the votes. The winner was clear. My gift obvious. All along, my Gift had been PASSION. What is yours?
